Our visitors reviews
This router is good, but not the best. The build quality is perfect. Speed performance is great, but there are a lot of small issues with the settings. I tried to configure the router using the mobile app, but was unsuccessful. I should add that some functions of the app just don't work. Later I installed it successfully via the web. As for the web GUI: it's beautiful, but slow. The firmware is quite dangerous. For example, for the two available configuration methods I was unable to select to save the time zone. The advanced settings are quite poor. The very nice feature of the router is the USB port for external storage devices, but I haven't tested it yet.
This product is impressive and it wasn't just the hardware specs that blew me away. We can't expect anything more from this product at this price. It works like a decent WiFi router, an extender for the 2.5 and 5.0 GHz range. You can configure it both ways and either way as desired. The positive point is the four antennas that provide an excellent coverage area. Aside from the amazing hardware, this is truly a work of art. It looks impressive from the outside, the material used is top-notch and very strong and very light. The biggest advantage is that we can operate it with a mobile from anywhere in the world. It shows all connected devices and also the speed. It also provides website access for selected guest devices to the router.
I have used it for two years and my feelings about it are just great. The router supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi frequencies, which is a big plus now in 2019, as many smartphones and laptops support 5GHz today. The fact that you can create two access points separately is a benefit. But if you need an access point that combines both frequencies it is also a good option. It is easy to set up a device: Xiaomi has an application for smartphones. Once you install it you can change the password, install some additional plugins, etc.
This router has a good data sheet, and then it is briefly summarized with more relevant data. I'm going to start with the router interfaces and the has a RJ45 Fast Ethernet port for LAN. In addition, it has a USB 2.0 port to be able to make backup copies of the router settings or to be able to enjoy an entertainment media server on your own home network. It is 19.5 cm long by 13.1 deep by 2.35 cm wide, not counting the antennas. Therefore, it is identical in size to many routers and that is why it does not stand out in this section which, in my opinion, remains attractive. Since many of us like the reduced size of previous versions. It has four antennas of approximately 15 cm, which makes it have a router with a height of 17.73 cm vertically. These antennas have 5dBi and 6dBi gain. This Xiaomi has the 802.11ac protocol among others that allows you to enjoy the 5GHz band, which, as I remember, in a set of bands that are always empty (unlike 2.4 GHz) and practically without interference caused by other routers or household appliances . This frequency band has the advantage of being wider and being able to obtain higher transmission speeds.
After a lot of research I decided on this router, as everything seemed fine. Also, I am a fan of Xiaomi and I have half a dozen of their phones in the family. For both style and looks, it has five stars. Installation is very simple with the Mi Router application, which is very complete. Once on WiFi, the web interface can be used to modify the settings. While this interface is in Chinese, using Chrome Browse with Google translation makes it all very easy to use. There are many useful features available. Speed and coverage are good and I am connected in areas of my home where connectivity was previously unavailable. For years I have used D-Link and TP-Link, both of which are lagging compared to this.
FAQs
I have a question, let's see if someone can answer me. I understand that the wifi speed is 300M for the 2.4. and 800M for li of 5. If the wan input is 100m, will we never exceed that speed? thank you
That's right, the maximum speed will never be higher than your network input.
